GWALIOR
Alarge and magnificent Fort built on a hill dominates the

ORCHHA
Amedieval town built in the 16th and 17th centuries by the Bundela
Rajput kings, Orchha seems untouched by time.

Access
The nearest railhead is Jhansi (19 kms). Linked by road to Gwalior
(120 kms), Orchha is also on the Jhansi- Khajuraho road.
SHIVPURI
In the cool of forested hills, is Shivuri, a summer retreat
of Maharajas of Gwalior. The forests, where they once hunted tigers,
tigers, are now part of the Madhav National park.

KHAJURAHO
Extraordinary temples rise spire upon spire like a mirage in the middle
of nowhere. Built by the Channdela kings in the 10th cantury, just
22of the original85 temples still remain. Their tall spires are balanced
with horizontal bands of the most dazzling profusion of carved figures,
animals, trees,Chariots- sculped with unerring perfection.

SANCHI
Located in the heart of India is Sanchi, with some of the finest examples
of Buddhist architecture in the country.

The nearest railhead us Vidisha (10 kms). Connected by road to Bhopal
(68 kms). The nearest airport is at Bhopal. Taxis ply from Bhopal.
UJJAIN
Ujjain is situated on the right bank of river Shipra.It is
a very holy city for the Hindus, a site for the triennial Kumbh Mela.
According to Hindus scriptures, it was originally called avantika.There
is an interesting tale behind the sanctity of the city. It's
origin is ascribed to the mythological legend of Sagar Manthan (churning
of the primordial ocean to discover the pot of nectar).
Apart from mythological legends, the city has long and distinguishedhistory.
It was governed by the likes of Vikramaditya and Ashoka.Kalidas wrote
his soul stirring poetry here.

INDORE
This city derives its name from the 18th century indreshwar Temple.
situated in the heart of Malwa plateau it was base of the Holkars,former
rulers of this erstwhile state.Indore ,in fact was planned and built
by Rani Ahilyabi Holkar.
